EWI Services
What we offer
EWIS specialise in installing Exterior Wall Insulation Systems on new build and existing buildings to reduce heat loss, making them more energy efficient, easier to maintain and with an improved appearance. This has the added benefit of increasing value and improving the property’s saleability.
We work closely with the leading manufacturers and suppliers of External Wall Insulation products, ensuring that the most appropriate systems are specified and expertly installed.
Whichever manufacturers system is adopted, it will normally comprise of a layer of non-combustible insulation that is attached to the original outer wall surface using special adhesive and mechanical fixings. This is followed by a reinforced mesh, primer and finally the external wall finish.
The final finish can be a choice of thin coat render, thick coat render, dry dash or brick effect according to the requirement and environment.

Benefits of External Wall Insulation
01
Lowers Fuel Bills
Nearly half of the heat lost from some solid wall houses can be through the walls. Installing Exterior Wall Insulation will stop this heat from being lost so quickly and save you money on fuel bills.
02
Prolongs Building Life
External Wall Insulation systems protect the building façade from the effects of the weather.
03
Improves Building Appearance
External Wall Insulation systems incorporate an extensive range of decorative finishes and colours. It will give a consistent colour and finish across the property and help cover any previous defects and signs of age.
04
Eliminates Condensation
External Wall Insulation helps eliminate interstitial and internal condensation and assists with overcoming associated problems such as damp internal walls and mould growth.
05
Minimises Disruption
By definition, External Wall Insulation systems are installed on the exterior of a building/property, therefore occupants do not have to leave their business premises or the comfort of their homes during the application of the system. In addition, internal space is not infringed upon.

Thin Coat Renders
With the advantage of being available in an extremely wide range of colours, these premixed renders are normally applied in a single coat, thus making them easy and quick to apply with a trowel. Often with a silicon base these low maintenance renders are easy to clean.
Render availability is in silicon, silicate, acrylic or mineral and applied to an overall thickness of 0.6mm to 3mm.
Thick Coat Renders
Thick coat renders, of up to 15mm, are applied where a more durable and impact resident finish is required. Often using a coloured mineral base, the render powder is mixed with water and applied by spray or hand-scraped according to the finish required. These renders are available in a range of pastel colours.

Dry Dash
As an alternative, traditional finish to a thick coat render, small aggregate is hand-thrown onto the wet render to give this popular effect, also known as pebble dash.
Brick Effect
To insulate a solid brick property, whilst maintaining its traditional look and style, we use various brick effect products using one of the following methods:
Clay Brick Slips: these are highly realistic brick tiles ranging in thickness from 6mm to 15mm which are fixed using adhesive to the EWI basecoat and the joints ‘pointed up’ using a specialist grout.
Acrylic Brick Slips: as a more cost-effective alternative to clay brick slips, these flexible imitation brick tiles are thinner and easy to apply. Like brick slips, they are fixed to the EWI basecoat and jointed using a specialist grout.
Brick effect render: instead of using brick tiles, this effect is achieved by applying two coats of render. The base coat is the desired colour of the mortar, and the topcoat resembles the brick colour and texture. When the topcoat is cut back in a brick pattern it reveals the mortar colour below. This can be a very effective technique, especially when additional colours and stains are added to match local brick stock.

"Quality of workmanship is a very good standard."
