What is SHDF?

The UK Government’s Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund was established to upgrade the social housing stock in England to ensure that it reaches a minimum of Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Band C.

By supporting the installation of energy performance measures in social homes it will help deliver warm, energy efficient homes with reduced carbon emissions. At the same time, it will help tackle fuel poverty and improve the comfort, health and well-being of social housing tenants.

EWIS are an approved installer within the SHDF scheme to provide External Wall Insulation systems as either a contractor or subcontractor. So, whether you are a Main Contractor, Local Authority or Housing Association we can work with you to achieve your SHDF targets across the country.

PAS 2035

PAS 2035 is a British Standard for end-to-end energy efficiency and Whole House retrofits. Vital for achieving net zero targets and decarbonization of the build environment, this standard is mandatory for projects funded by the Social Housing Decarbonization Fund (SHDF).

PAS2035 provides a standard process and good practices for retrofit projects, to ensure they give intended outcomes that avoid consequences such as damp, mould and rot. As well as maintaining a consistent approach to energy efficiency measures and giving accountability to all parties.

Within the Whole House approach to energy efficiency PAS2035 adopts a ‘fabric first’ focus to ensure that, primarily, the outer skin of the building is as energy efficient as possible. And that’s an area where EWIS expertise and experience will play a major role in achieving energy efficient solutions. Give examples of the number and type of EWIS installations under PAS2035.

Both main contractors and sub-contractors must adhere to PAS 2035 to perform SHDF installations.
